IIRC, 936 is VW Silver Metallic.

Also in '72 and maybe other 'early' years, though the factory documentation is confusing on this for at least '72. I've seen 4 '72Ts in 936 silver (NOT the more common 925 silver).

Indeed, my '72 is a 936 car. I'm partial to the color

My '73T was stamped 936-?-? on the door tag. I cant remember if it was the same number as above, but the color that I could still see under the red overspray in the engine bay was really nice.

my car is a '76 S, and this is the paint code shown on the plate on the door. The car has been repainted, but still silver thohgh. I amlooking to paint it again, and would like to put the original color again.

Where do you find such information? The paint code under my hood is L33P, with interior code 72. My car is light blue with white interior.

To look at a code, try www.paintscratch.com.

Also, the dealer can help you as well. I was not sure if my Porsce had a Porsche color. I went to my local dealer and asked the parts guy for the old color chips. I spent about 30 minutes looking through the books and found the one that matched my car. For convinence, I bought a small bottle of touchup fromt he fellow to cover the chips we all get.
