Le Mans 2005

I am planning on going to the 2005 Le Mans on the 18th - 19th of June. One detail I am working on is a camping site, is anyone from the forum going that has some camping permits? Or know of anyone selling them? The plan is go on the 17th and look for other Porsche fans (DDK, or Pelican) and try to work things out that evening.

If anyone has suggestions or ideas please let me know.

Thanks

Good luck - best thing to do is to cruise some of the Le Mans forums to see if anyone has a spare camping pass. Try the forum area of www.club-arnage.com

Porsche Club GB have the area behind the Porsche Curves, so lots of Porsches there.

ha ha...I know, nothing like planning ahead. I did see a couple camping permits on e-bay but the price was a little steep. Still looking.

I don't know if this is any use but the Porsche Club of Great Britain has use of an area on the Porsche Curves this year?

Too bad we won't run into each other at LeMans like we did at the 'Ring.

Have a great trip and if you aren't too busy having fun / enjoying yourself try to take a few pics for those of us who can't make it

I will do that Doug.
Ian do you know any of the PCGB guys that might let us into the area?
We are also considering what tickets to buy for the best view, yet not too far from the car park/camping area.

Hey K9, caught you on one of my rare visits nowadays on the site...have fun in Lee Man's, I confirm -if you don't mind about comfort- you can just plop down your mini-tent just about anywhere between the looney limey folk. It't traditional.
BTW, you know I sold my Carrera? Yep - every time I see an old Carrera down the street, my neck chills... gotta move on...

Having checked it would appear that the PCGB camp site is sold out, but still a good place to vist to meet other Porschephiles. In terms of tickets a general race ticket is all that most people get. It gives access to all areas around the circuit except seating in the stands, for which you have to pay extra. I never bother because I only spend an hour at each end of the race by the start/finish line. The Arnage corner is the place to go for me, I visit at last light for a couple of hours and then go early the next morning. It gives you the best comparison, I believe, of the differences between the proto and production-based cars. It's also worth a visit pre-race because you get all sorts of cars hanging out there.
Enjoy

Ian

Nope, K9 - it's been fun but I'm completely out of "fast" cars now, probably for a looong time. Did you see how, nowadays, Benz cars just fall apart on the 'ring ? :-)))

Ian

When are you travelling?

I'm also going with PCGB and travelling on the 0906 shuttle Thursday morning (16th).

I've been to Le Mans many times but I'm really looking forward to this trip.

K9 - nah, I was referring to Kimi's McLaren-Mercedes losing his suspension...rough stuff.
Yesterday I got an email from the (since a month now) new owner of my Carrera: he's on cloud 9, writing "wow, what a car...etc etc) and no, he doesn't want me to ship him the 6-winebottle sized box containing the (french) shop manual I offered to mail him, no, he's coming to pick it up with the ...yep... the...the...yessssssssss
...c'mon now, say it!
the ... CARRERA
...doh...

K9Handler,
I will be at LeMans with three friends this year (our first). We are traveling from England by train and will arrive Friday, leaving Monday. Any luck on finding a place to watch?

Cheers,

ha ha Matt...yep just south of Paris.

No place to stay since we started planning so late, so we are going to put the trip on hold until the classics in 2006.
