Will 911R rear lights fit a 964?

If so, does anyone have any pics?

l know that 964 lights fit 911s so I would deduce that 911R lights would fit a 964. The rear red plastic "PORSCHE" panel on a 964 slants like the 964 lights where as a 911R light is vertical like the earlier panels on the 74' to 89' cars so it might look a little incongruent unless you use an eariier "PORSCHE" panel as well.

EDIT: Obviously I've never owned a 964. So much for deductive reasoning.

I think the 964 has an angled part on the bodywork as well. This would be left sticking out. You can see the metal around the light housing in Tre's pic below. This is what would hamper my future C4 backdate.

Ditto - hence the question. I'll go and eyeball the next one at my mech's shop.

If you wish to keep the 964 reflector , then no, the typical 911R lamps will not fit. If you are backdating to an earlier style, then you have a lot more work to do!

researching a 73 RS backdate on a C4 - so the 964 reflector (and the panel beneath it) will go. would they fit then?

Yes, after you cut off the reflector supports, the lower turn signal flanges on the rear 1/4's, AND have added a little metal to make up the gap from the early lens replacements on each forward edge. You'll need to spot or repaint the 1/4 panel as a result
Next detail to consider is the exhaust system: I suggest converting over to a 993 heat exchangers and fabricated pipes so the mufflers are in each 1/4 panel area (like oem 993) and you end up with a tip on each side of the car. The license panel area sits very close to the muffler area on pre 74 cars' bumpers
