Dust caps on front T-bars

Do the dust caps at the front of the front T-bars just snap in / out? I had to drill one to punch the T-bar out, and I am not sure how to finish removing it and reinstalling another. Any tricks?

Doug

Use the torsion bar to drive the cap out. Use a hammer to tap the new one in.

So the cap drives out from the inside (torsion tube side) and the new one drives in from the outside, with a hammer? Is there just a groove the the cap sits in?

That would be correct. Can't remember if there is a groove or not.

No. Wait! It's simple.

You drilled a hole in it, right? OK, then take a long thin punch and put it into the hole 1/2" or so. Then just pry the cap off sideways. It is simply sitting in a little groove around the inside diameter and will pull right out using this technique.

To put a new one in, just use a long socket extension and a hammer and gently tap it in until it "snaps" into place, per se'.
