1984 wiper assembly rebuild

Hi all,

Recently I removed the wiper mechanism from my car to get at the dash wiring loom, which I wanted to restore.

One of the wiper 'posts' that sticks up through the scuttle has quite a bit of play in the plain bearings it sits in. A search online showed that rebuild bushing kits are available for the really early cars, but does anyone know if kits are available for later mechanisms (1984) and/or how feasible it is to refurb the mechanism? I did a bit of searching on here but didn't find anything, but if anyone's got any pointers to old threads or has done it and has any tips that would be appreciated.

Thanks!
