Here is what I did. I made bumperettes out of Alu. Can you tell that a 911 is parked there regularly.

Here's mine:
![]() ![]() Holes were welded shut, and I drilled out the bolts on the bumper shocks and used carriage bolts to mount it up. It's not the cleanest, but it was more of an experiment. Next winter will bring a Ruf fiberglass rear bumper to match the front.

![]() The more I look at the change, the more I like it. It really needs to be seen at different angles to appreciate. Last edited by 89911; 06-15-2005 at 07:15 PM.. |

Rear Bumper Mods
Thank you for the response. I have a set of smaller bumperetts but after seeing the examples with the bumperette removed I will be doing the same.
I also wanted to cut some holes in the bumper to help the heat from the exhaust escape. Rather than just using a hole saw I had planned on removing most of the bumper material behind the license plate and along the lower edge of the bumper by making elongated slots about 6 to 8 inches long by 1 to 2 inches wide. I understand that this will weaken the bumper and compromise it's ability to protect the car in the event of a rear end accident but I would rather do this than go through the problems of fitting a fiberglass bumper which offers zero protection and it still needs to be painted. Has anyone seen this done other than someone just cutting a bunch of round holes as seen on some race and track cars? I appreciate any feed back and or pictures. |
