Targa Top repair in San Francisco Area?

Hi,
Ive had the Pcar about a year and the top has been a problem since I got it. Noisy, poor fitting, cracked and the rubber is in bad shape.

Living in the SP bay area lets me drive without the top most of the time, but the cold weather is on the way and its getting time to fix this..

Id like to take it some place that can get the top redone and replace the rubber moldings so it fits like it should...

Some of the PO's records show that the top has been a problem for a while... Notes like " this targa fit is terrible!" are in several RO's.

Id like to think this is fixable!?

Here are some photos of the top and mouldings...

Any place you can recommend nearby that can do the whole job??

Thanks, Joe

Joe,

The PO of my car had the targa top completely rebuilt at California Covers in Oakland earlier this year. It looked brand new and the fit was great until I started folding and unfolding it. Now there are some rumples but still fits well IMO. You're welcome to take a look at it before you decide to go with them. Just send me an email so we can sched a hook-up. The cost of the rebuild was $700 in April.

Hi Cantdrv55...
Ya, Id like to see your top. Will send a PM.

K. Roman, I checked the targatops site, dosnt look like they do weatherstriping?? Id like to just drop the car off and have them replace all the rubber around the top as well as rebuild the top.

I dont think the top fits well and would like to get it fit to the car while being rebuilt. I figure if I get it done at the same time it will be a better job...

Joe

When you do get the top rebuilt, don't go folding it anymore!

I've heard good things about Bascom trim and upholstery. http://www.bascomtrim.com/porschespec.htm. They will be the ones to replace my convertable top when the time comes.

Dan at carsinc does tops everyday. He will answer any questions and knows everything about Targa tops. I know you have to ship but he is very fast. He will turn around a top in 2 days usually.

I do not know if Generations Upholstery in San Jose do this kind of jobs...they have a good reputation for Porsche upholstery...
TargaTops.com is in Palo Alto, but I can't recall their new name...they are on the street parallel to 101 that goes to IKEA (right by a storage place)

That top has probably been rebuilt and the car sold by now. Who breathed life into the 20003 thread without looking?
