Air Box cover...CIS
I just ordered this air box cover from our host. Yes, it looks a lot cooler than stock and has, so they say, three times the air flow. Has anyone tried it and have reports on actual performance and/or sound improvements? I'm already running a KN filter.
Also...with more air flow does it still require a pop off valve

The only difference you are likely to notice is in the sound.
As for a popoff valve, this will not in any way alter the fact that you need one. Since there won't be any difference in actual airflow into your engine, it won't change your mixture and won't change the likelihood of an airbox explosion. Regardless, the popoff is good insurance.

I agree with Mr. Conner, IMO that is Strictly a cosmetic change on a CIS engine and will not alter the mixture or power or anything else. It might let a little more intake noise escape but that's it.
The bottleneck on these intakes is in the air flow sensor and throttle body and filter, not in the air cleaner cover. |

I bought a cheap used air box cover and did this to see if it does anything, It does not do anything. Like everyone said just cosmetics or sound.
