No wheel lock key....What to do?
I'm looking high and low for that darn key. I just don't want to have a flat and not be able to take off the wheel. It has already prevented me from replacing my O2 sensor.
http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1119046626.jpg The six-sided lug nut has a recessed groove near the top of the nut in which a wheel lock with a cylindrical body covers the entire lug nut body. The photo show a normal lug at the top while the bottom one is smooth with a key lock. When the key lock is turned it allows two 'catches" to sit in the groove and prevent anyone from removing it unless a key is produced. Looking for any suggestions. Does anyone recognize the maker (Porsche?) and is there a master key? thanks in advance. |
Looks like standard Porsche. (the little key on mine has porsche on it) Haven't got a small extra key on your keyring have you?

Talk to your wrench. They're relatively easy to remove, but I've always been reluctant to post the process here. Replace them with the modern locks available from our host.

Do a search. This has been discussed often. Or PM ScottB for the details.
The best wheel lock is keeping the car in your garage. Otherwise park it somewhere safe. JoeA |
scottB,
I sent you a PM Any other comments appreciated. |
As others have said they are relatively easy to overide.

Maybe you can do the following:
1. Like scottb says: go to your wrench and talk about the problem. 2. Go to Napa, Pep-Boys, Advance Auto Parts, etc. and ask for one of the mechanic to take the special tool and remove the locking nut. 3.Put some dynamite and blow the nut. 4. Die grindind the nut. 5. Buy another Porsche without locking wheel nuts. |
THe old wheel locks on the 924 went bad...wouldn't release even with the key. They went to the trash, as did the locks on the SC. I don't trust them, and never use them...I use cheap wheels instead
