New muffler for '66
Well, it's not new. I got it from a nice gentleman on the West Coast, who even made a custom box for it.
This isn't Stoddard's "Dove Grey" but it's close (they were out of stock)- it's LPS cold galvanizing spray. Zinc dust, shmink dust. ![]() Also, some Bolshevik is probably going to take me to task about the nylocs. Be assured, I used Schnorr washers under each, and have some all-metal locks on order. The muffler's not going anywhere, held on by two brand new stainless clamps, which despite what Wayne's book says, were actually a breeze to install, without need of longer bolts or zip-ties. Which brings me to the muffler that was removed, a "Bursch." This thing has no place on a Porsche. It's going up for sale at Hershey, best offer to get it out of my sight. So the sound is a LOT better, sounds more like a 911 should. Also, the old Bursch was only held on by the heat exchanger flange bolts, so there was a lot of vibration, and I'm sure stress on the exhaust studs. No more. It won't win the Manhattan trophy, but I can now go to the Parade with my held held (sorta) high. Thanks again to the nice fella from California through whose generosity and devotion to old Porsches this was possible.
