Great work Chuck....

You are the engineering whiz-kid;) You have a very cool system in place, any thoughts on an Elephant Racing RS oil cooling/vent kit?

big tip 'o the cap to ya....very well executed.

cheers!!

Welcome to the hood vent club!!!!

Nice job..

You make mine look weak! I used tin and rivets!!

Andy, aero was a factor. I would stop short of saying this creates downforce, but I beleive it's better to have the air flow over the car than under the car. A vent under the car, RS style is very effective for cooling purposes and has been proven to work well on the track, I just wanted to give this a try.

tbull, yes the top of the airbox seals to the underside of the hood. I still need to create a tunnel under the hood to connect the airbox to the vent. I want it all sealed to try and keep it as rain-proof as possible.

Rick and Doug, it's a MIG setup. I had to do a lot of practice to get the AL to fuse. Biggest thing was getting the amperage and feed correct. And of course cleanliness.

Thom, I did say it was fine for people capable of fabrication - that means you ;) Actually your bumper has a lot of space for hose routing. Try doing this behind a standard RS bumper. There is no room.

Riz, I need to finish the project first and see how well it performs. But I may "productize" the airbox. We'll see.

Rattler, your car was part of the inspiration and well executed.

That looks great Chuck! Nice work! I kind of like the sides of the fiberglass portion of the hood being a difference color, it makes the vent stand out. Perhaps an Orange contrast for the sides?

Just have to drag this thread up again. That vent hood looks so cool.
Any others want to post their notes and pics?
