DME relay failure
My car had developed intermittent cold start problems until, last Friday, it stopped starting altogether. I swapped out the DME relay, and the problem was solved. The point of this post is: I had thought the relay and the DME, consisting essentially of transistor circuits, would be a binary mechanism, i.e. would either be on or off. But it failed progressively and, more remarkably, the new relay rectified problems I didn't know I had: even quicker start up, even smoother idle, and stronger pulling through the rpm range. The relay I swapped out was clearly the original one, and it seeped green stuff on the two lower pins. All of you still driving with their original relays may do well exchanging them--cheap tune up!
