Hey, no problem, Chris.

A bunch of we BMW e28 (83-88 5-series) fanciers meet from time to time to assist each other in installation of everything from window track seals to pulling engines. We usually bring coffee, breakfast or lunch food, and sometimes an adult beverage or two.:D

They're a lot of fun, and productive most times.SmileWavy

Pat - Sounds like we are in the same frame of mind, we started beverages long before noon :)

Toby, if you want your tools, they are on E-bay right now, you still have time to be the high bidder! I'll even ship for free ;)

Thanks for the offer! I think my time frame might be towards the end of the summer. I'm not sure. When I do it, I'm going to do 21/27mm torsion bars and turbo tie rods all at the same time.

Anthony,

When u are ready to do the install.... can I assist also?

Sure, no problem. What do you guys think of setting up a local Bay Area Pelicanites email list? It would help us coordinate get togethers at local events like AXes or swap meets or local lend a brother a hand events.

cbeers 06-21-2005 12:42 PM

I'm up for that Anthony, do you know how to set it up?

When you get to your car, let me know, those happen to be some of the only projects I have any experience at!

:)

There's a discussion group in Yahoo for Bay Area Rennlisters called BAR group. Something like that would be cool. Instead of taking up bandwidth here on Pelican, we can post there and everyone subscribed would get an alert via email. Unfortunately, I do not know how to set up a Yahoo group. Maybe someone has already done so for Pelican?

vash 06-21-2005 12:58 PM

good idea. i am all over it.

cantdrv55 06-21-2005 01:17 PM

Ok, it wasn't hard to create a Yahoo group after all. Below is the link. Just become a member and you'll receive an email alert when someone posts there. Should I create a new thread to announce this on the 911 tech forum?

OK, I am in, I am targa87911 :)

Thanks Chris!

i am in,

start a new thread chris P.

Awesome. I was going to suggest a yahoogroups. I'm anthony_siino on yahoo. I set my yahoo groups preferences to forward all messages to my regular email account. That way I don't have to remember to look at the yahoo groups web site or mess with yahoo mail.

juanbenae 06-21-2005 02:03 PM

this is all so much fun. i am in.

Check out the Elephant racing website and their stuff seems pretty good. Polybronze bushings which is why they dont squeek. But they are expensive too.

cbeers 06-22-2005 08:26 AM

Sameer,

They ARE more expensive, a lot more. But for me, I wanted high quality that would make a difference in ride and last for a long time. It was worth it to me. Plus, another selling point was that they don't need modification to install like the polygraphite bushings. I know others who have the graphite and are happy, so it's really up to you and what you are looking to achieve........plus Chuck at elephant is first rate and very helpful :)

The binding issues and the installation issues (have to lathe the poly bushings to size) is what urged me to buy the poly bronze. If I'm going to go the extra mile and have the car corner balanced after I'm done I don't want to have to pull it all apart again any time soon.

there is to be no cross pollination between the groups either. i'd like to fancy the BA group as a mid year bunch that works on their own cars. the BAR guys are just fancy.

they asked my out of the group after one of the members crashed his car on one of the drives i organized. (not really)

Great write up Chris, thanks. It's on my list of things to do but first I need to finish getting my car back together and see how it works.

Anybody in the area want to come by and kick my butt to get me away from this board?:)
