wastegate question/help

Gents,

Where is the best place to pick up positive manifold pressure to connect to the side port of the waste gate? I know the top port should be connected to the boost controller.

Thanks in advance.

intercooler is generally best, but any point between turbo and throttle will do. Most modern turbos have nipple on compressor housing for this very purpose.

Goran,

thanks. I have a 80's version of a k-27.
What about the round disk with vacuum port on the side of the distributor?.

Dunno, I would use standard solution (=intercooler or tubing). There have been different models of distributors and some of them have one-way valve etc. You should check how it looks like in your case.

Basically, you can take pressure signal from everywhere between compressor and throttle.

When it comes to boost regulators, there are many schools.

First (and worst) is to use harder spring.
Second is to bleed air going to port side of wastegate, either by T-orifice or by electronically controlled solenoid that recirculates air back into turbo intake (standard solution on all modern turbocharged cars). Top port is then vented to atmosphere,
Third is to connect boost to both ports, but top port with regulator in series.

All of them work.

I used a reference signal off the intake, you can see the blue threaded AN fitting just above the coil here:

Yasin,

that's an interesting approach.
I have been advised by several turbo specialist that the wastegate side port must be connected to positive manifold pressure.
I tapped into the intercooler out flow pipe with a brass fitting just before the throttle body.
