GHL headers & Muffler / 3.o SC

Looking at a 911SC track car w stock CIS & a 1.5/8 GHL headers & muffler.

1. The primary tube is very short compaired to most.

2. Is 1 5/8's seems big for a 3.o.

3. Was told they had to port out the exaust to fit the cones so it sounds like they had a 3.2 set instead of a SC set.

Any dyno experance w the short tube GHL over the more standard long tube equal length SSI style headers.

I guess my real question is do I keep them or can I pick up HP for the track by changeing and what is the best size for a stock 3.0 track motor (200 to 220hp ? crank)

Thanks

1 5/8 is not too big for a 3.0. especially if it is modified in any way. you could go bigger but 1 5/8 will still provide some backpreasure while increasing the flow. can't say about changing them to improve hp as i have stock 74 heat exchangers on my sc. i can say that that set up (which ssi's are based on) is quite nice. do not know about the weight differences but i should think that if you could save a few pounds in the rear of a track car, it would be more benefitial than raising the hp so long as you can spare the points. just my .02 tho.
