Should I build it? AC questions

As the summer heat starts to set in and the lack drive to DRIVE the Non A/C early Porsche , the wheels start spinning(in my head , well a few anyway).

I know Alot of us have removed our A/C systems from our cars to save weight and maybe get rid of something that does not work very well all the time anyway.

SO , it still pretty hot out what to do what to do?

Do you put a Vintage air system in? No

Not drive the car. Thats no fun

So I think I have a solution,

And I like to see if there is any interest.

What if the is a A/C unit that is sell contained,
Does not need to run off the engine , just plug it in to lighter
And you can remove it when you ge to the track
Weighs about 45# and has and 250 cfm
ALL this and it is under $300

So you have it run when you what to drive around and to the track, get to the track, and pull it out , and unplug it

IT sits in the trunk and need very little to hook up.

Do ya'll think that people (Porsche People) Will like something like this?

I am think about building one, and if there is some interest maybe a few more.

Derek: What are you going to do to exhaust the hot air?

Easy, open the windows.

I would take a look at it definitely. If it is unobtrusive, maybe housed in the trunk and could be powered from the fuse panel or battery instead of the lighter, that would be even better. I need one about 2, maybe 3 months a year, but that is it. Sounds like a good idea. Send me what you have.

I think it would be difficult to run an a/c unit from just the battery.

What would the amperage requirements be?

Ed

BTW- when I was a kid, my friends dad had a JC Whitney a/c unit similar to this. It was tub you filled with ice, with a12 volt fan that blew the air over the ice to cool it. Maybe you could do something like this with an Igloo cooler and a fan?

Deoxford,

If you build it we will come.

The concept is not new, in fact it's been already done, and with a PORSCHE no less.

Just a small window air connected to an inverter.

Ed,
I was thinking about the ones with the Ice and they are cheap about $122
