Ok guys, I just installed the new Boge shocks purchased from a fellow Pelican last night. I had to try a quick jaunt up to speed for comparison this morning.
It felt much better this time (no death grip req'd this time). The old inserts I removed were the kind that were working in an oil bath inside the strut housing, so I think they were original. I did not think that they were bad though as suprisingly, the rod still had nice damping in both directions when pushing/pulling by hand. Well none the less, I drained the oil and installed the new Boge sealed strut inserts and low and behold I could feel a difference in ride. Thanks for all the input guys. (by the way my owners manual and a chart in Bruce Anderson's book show that my speed vs rpm appear to be correct for my '79 SC) http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1119613893.jpg |
