Hey! Michelin and Porsche make a great team for Endurance and sports-car racing. Its when you get into Formula cars that the two have a checkered (recent) history.

BTW, the car seems like a neat and fairly conventional package. The nose looks interesting if very "un-Porsche". I wonder where the center intake vents to?

What's up with the...

"...new 3.4-liter, 90-degree V8 engine. Able to produce 480hp at 10,100 rpm under the ACO's regulations, the lightweight Porsche engine has a very low center of gravity. It features four valves per cylinder, a dry sump lubrication system, and an air intake manifold with single cylinder throttle valves. "
???

It doesn't sound like any street motor that they've built to date. One of Porsche's strengths has always been the connection between their race cars and their street cars. Admittedly in the highly competitive world of big name racing, it's difficult to compete with "Street" technology. Never the less, some of the LMP2 motors are derived from street motors, specifically Nissan. Hopefully some of the new motor will flow down to Porsche's products.

More like a 1 3/4 seater. Part of the rules; look at all of the LMP cars.

That picture of it from the front looks pretty awesome. I like the Puma graphic on the side of the rear wing, too. I've got my eye on some Puma driving shoes already... This will prompt me to pick them up a little earlier.

I read once that back in 99-00, Porsche worked on a prototype car based on a flat six, but they cancelled the program and then denied it existed. Wonder if the flat six can't be competitive any more...

A very nice looking car and I can't wait to see it in person at this years Petit LeMans race. The 3.4 litre V8 makes sense if the internet rumor is true that Porsche may be a future engine supplier to the IRL.

To be honest, for the most part the chassis and body doesn't look that different from the Courage, especially from the front...

You'd think that they would have at least tried to keep the "scrambled eggs" headlight treatment or something to lend a sense of "Porscheness" to it. It also seems a bit big compared to let's say the Lola B05/40.

at this point I don't care what it looks like (although I find it sexy). I am happy to see Porsche getting off their ass and racing at a high level again. Would have been nice to be LMP1 but hey I am not going to complain.

Here is hoping this is the start of winning rebirth of Porsche Racing.
