Tire Pressure for DE or AX

With what tire pressure do you recommend to start testing for these events.
I have Toyos RA1 245-45-16 and 225-50-16.

Rule of thumb is to not exceed 40psi hot with RA-1's. Check pressures right when you get off the track and assume a couple psi have dropped during your cool down lap.

Starting pressures depend on your car weight, driving style, track conditions and ambient temps. I try to start off 7-8lbs below 40, rears usually get 1-2 psi less than the fronts as they heat up more.

Hope this helps.

I start mine off at 29 front, 31 rear on a warm/hot day. By the end of a 20-minute run they're in the range of 34-37, with the outside pair (left side if running clockwise) a pound or two more than the inside. That's right where I want them. The scrub on your tire tread is a good way to tell if your pressures are too high or too low. Generally, you want the scrub to go right to the edge of the sidewall, but not down on to it. It takes some experimentation to get it right.

Softer front should create more oversteer while a softer rear should create understeer, both due to greater grip on the softer end. Find a balance that fits your driving style.
