Ride Height Adjustment

Does the engine and transaxle have to be in the car to adjust my spring plates and front sway bar for ride height?

Well, technically, no, if you knew the exact weight of the car with drivetrain installed. But unless you have accurately weighed it very recently, don't try to set the ride height until all the bits are back in.

I guess after reading my question, I realized it was pretty stupid! What I MEANT to say, was.... When I have my dirvetrain out, it will easier to get the spring plate bolts. I plan on getting them at least loosend during that time.
My real question...Can I make minor adjustments on both spring plates to start the process as far as ride height, then after the drivetrain is back in, do the final adjustments.
I am unclear on what may happen when making an adjustment without proper load in th car.

There's no point in doing it with the drivetrain out, as you won't be able to tell if you're 'warmer' or 'colder' WRT your desired ride height. Adjusting ride height is an iterative process, and you need the immediate visual feedback.

If you're bored and looking for something to so, detail the undercarriage

Theoretically you could adjust ride height if you temporarily install weight equivalent to the drivetrain mass. Maybe this could be a new product I could offer: 600 lbs of dead weight in 100 lb increments; offer used bowling balls for precise weight substitution. UPS charges would be deadly though.

Ok Thom, I'll go get some degreaser and a toothbrush for now.
