Targa vent wing windows

Since my AC doesn't work that well - at the moment anyway -

Can I put operable vent windows from an earlier caron my 79 SC? If so, do I have to replace the whold window track and frame also?

My early car had them and they were great as long as the car is moving...

If you can, anyway to blacken them? They're all chrome, aren't they?

Thanks.

Did a search, didn't find anything specific...

Just realized that vent wdo won't work on the driver's side with the power mirror switch anyway...

you can scuff the chrome & paint over it or - better - reanodize in black like Gamroth's shop did for a yellow car that was in Excellence - there is a thread on that

two types of frames - Al and chrome-plated brass -- I went with the latter. Tho heavier I was told that the Al ones bend.

you can relocate the switch or save soem wt. and toss out the motors etc. for manual cranks. current thread on that

I recently backdated my 1980 SC Targa to 1976 opening vent windows. They were available in both chrome and black trim up to model year 1976. I found the black trimmed ones I used on Ebay; they fit perfectly and did not interfere with the power mirror switch. They will provide a decent amount of air until you reach a speed where the force of the wind will push them almost closed.
