Undercarriage caulking
At the front inside of my rear fenders there is caulking. Some of it has fallen out and now there is a hole. Any idea what Porsche used? I'd like to seal it back up.

I am also interested in the caulking inside the front fender flange. I had to scrape it off while removing the fender.
I don't know if it is the same as the rear. If not, let me know and I'll remove my post so not to hijack the thread. ![]() |

All good with the reply.
I think what you have there is an adhesive. The stuff in the back is gobs of something that looks like it comes out of a tube.

most likely seam sealer, applied with a gun at the factory.

Might be Terostat ribbon putty.

I was not familiar with Terostat, but I think it is a branded version of butyl tape. Butyl tape is non-hardening putty, and I have a roll of that for reassembly.
In my case of the front fender flange (is that what they are calling the joint plate?), the stuff I had to cut away was a very rubbery off-white color (under the rock guard coating). If I can't find out what it is exactly, I'm tempted to seal it up with silicon bathroom caulking. Later, I'll check on my car to see what Rod is referring to. It's referred to as the wing joining plate. It is basically butyl tape, 2mm or 3/4". Easy to get cheaper non-branded. I can't see silicone caulking holding up there, not to mention it would have been sprayed with undercoating which wouldn't adhere to silicone.
Seam sealer would have been applied over welded areas, while terostat seems to be used where the fender bolts to the chassis.
