Shift rod coupler
I was having a great day today, I went to get my emissions test done on my 80SC and it passed with flying colors! However on the way home the shifting seemed to get a bit sloppy, so I went right home and I removed the rear access cover to check the linkage.
Well it looks as if the damn shift rod coupler has a stress crack in it, right near the loop for the bushing. No doubt old age and a few bushing changes caused this. Anyway, is Pelican the lowest price source for these? And is used even an option given the age of these pieces?

A Porsche part for a 1980 vintage vehicle and you want to know if there is one for less than $95.00?!
The shop I go to charges $91.00 per hour, 'book' time! Pelican is good enough to provide this forum [free of charge] that provide us with countless thousands in savings in the form of free advice [and like minded enthusiasts], and you go asking where you can save a couple of bucks on an obsolete part?! Excuse me but some times we need to be reminded of what is important. My rant is over...... Drums P.S. The service is second to none, also!

I can understand your issues quite well, my mechanic in the few short instances that I have used him only charges around $65.00 an hour. I also understand the hosted forums issue, I have been buying parts from Pelican for several years, and three Porsche's now.
However when it comes to a small metal coupler used on several model years, yes I will try and find the best deal possible. Clutch kits and other unique items always go to Pelican. I try and be smart shopper, and since we have an abundance of Porsche wrecking yards here, I try just about every route possible. A few dollars here, and a few dollars there goes a long way in the end.

IMO, it's very reasonable to shop around. However, it would break forum rules and piss Wayne off if anyone were to point you to another vendor in a response. BTW, I recently shopped the coupler myself and I found Pelican to be the cheapest, though they were all within a few bucks of each other.

I have a virtual brand new one. I bought it, then ended up buying the WEVO unit. This piece can't have more than 200 miles on it. PM me if you're interested. Regards, J.P. |

Yoke for Shifter
Scott, is this the yoke that you need to replace? If you haven't found a replacement yet, $20 shipped to you.
PM me. Bob ![]() |

Here some pics of what I have: ![]() ![]() ![]() j.p. Ps. From the previous pic, it looks like Porsche reinforced the coupler in the later years. Check out the grub screw area and the bushing area. Last edited by jpahemi; 06-26-2005 at 08:17 AM.. |
