Pic of my cleaned up engine.

Hey gents, Thought I'd post a pic of my 84 3.2 that you all inspired me to clean up. Cleaning was done over the course of a month os so after dinner and bath time. Listening to the radio whilst havin a few beers. Very relaxing. Used the search to find past threads on the disassembly of the alternator/Fan/Housing. I was worried about clearance issues with the fan so I chose not to have the inside of the housing powder coated. Everything else was powder coated. Only set back I encountered was the woodruff key I had to replace after kicking mine into the bushes after to many beers cause I didn't know what the heck it was. Thanx for all your help/advice. img]SmileWavy

Looks good, but I think I'd do the engine first and THEN have my bath.:D

Austin552 - Have never seen that one before. One fish two fish is just down the street from me casa. It seems the P-cars around here only come out to play on Sunday's

Mark74carrera - Took my time dinkin around with the cleaning but the disassembly of the alt/fan/housing took me about 3hrs. Thats a newbie takin his time whilst referee'ing my two girls playing inside the car. Total cost was 100.00 for the powder coating and 70.00 for the alt strap.

Rev,
Great job! Looks sweet!!
What's that metal band w/ holes drilled in it on top of the fan shroud? That's not a stock part is it? Also, did you relocate the routing of the ignition wires off the fan shroud?

Very impressive work !

How about doing my engine too in exchange for a paid vacation in the south of Sweden ! ;)

MIK911 - "What's that metal band w/ holes drilled in it on top of the fan shroud?" Thats a Rennline alternater strap = $70.00

Yea basically I tossed all the stock ignition wire holders. I purchased the red wire holders at the local speed shop. Had to drill them out though to fit the Clewitt wires. They float as in there not attached to the shroud anymore.

Nice Job, I have the same engine in my car and should really do my own when I have a chance.

Did you have all the manifolds and A/C compressor (all the silver parts) painted or did you scub it all clean?

4to8m8 06-27-2005 03:16 AM

KILLERDYNOSOAR - Just cleaned everything with a toothbrush and whatever else I could find in my garage. Still in the process of taking the metal hose clamps off one at a time and am using a dremel to buff off the stock crappy gold coloring.

The fan shroud band looks like a Rennline part.
