John, have you already modified the air diverter tin pieces to be like the pieces used on '77 (IIRC) and later 911s? I did that because the books (Bruce's and Wayne's) said that helps keep the engine cooler; however, I didn't really notice any change in engine temps on my gauge.

edited for crappy spelling!

Jim,

The answer is, I don't know! I had the alternator out to check the wiring when I first got the car, but didn't look down between the fins. Most consider that to be a mandatory modification.

This engine was rebuilt 20,000 miles ago (but in 1982) but now measures 40% leakdown in a couple of the jugs. The pistons were NOT replaced in the rebuild, nor was much else, so I'm basically driving around with a 40-year old engine! A rebuild is definitely in order, but I don't want the engine to SEIZE before I get to it!

I have an alternator airguide to fit on the backside of the fan housing also. It should be a nice one day project to clean up the green shroud I bought at the Parade swap meet, paint it black, remove the fan, carbs and old shroud, clean the cylinders and oil cooler, and put everything back together.

Can the cooling tin be removed from the cylinders without pulling the engine? I could do the tin snips mod easily.

I think you can mod at least half (4) of the deflectors as long as you have the fan shroud off, which may be all that's required. I can't remember now.

You know John, if you like some bling, Ronnie in LB can hook you up with some fire engine red shroud paint.

Does anyone have an SC engine mount they can measure? I want to see how many variations of this there are. I know there are at least two from Grady's photo, but if there's an SC mount that will clear the larger pulley, that would be good to know.
