Need an idea for SPARE tire inflation........?
Currently I have a 996 TT spare tire and a can of fix-a-flat.
I have no lighter outlet for a tire pump. What I'd really like is a 'can' of compressed air rather than the compressed goop found in the fix-a-flat container. Where can I find this?

I think that used to be the standard in old GM cars. I'm not certain that it was just air, but I think it was. You may want to check a GM dealer.

Craig,
For dirtbiking, we all carry small CO2 canisters that fit into a tool with a small hose that runs to the valve stem. I have no idea if they will fill a car tire though. Or, if they will, how many canisters you would need. They are very small, we carry them in our packs (either a fanny pack or the drink style - camel back). Might be worth looking into..... -Chris

There are air compressors/pumps that can attach directly to the battery. A can of air could be completely worthless depending on the size of the puncture.

It would be real easy to hook up a ghetto ciggy lighter to the battery. It's just one + and one - wire. Keep it in the glove compartment and put some alligator clips on it. I'm pretty sure you can pick them up at any autoparts store cheap. You still need to carry the pump though.

Go to Harbor Freight and they have 12 volt compressors for $15 to $20. I figured that since I would want to inflate the spare tire right in the front hood, I replaced the lighter plug on the compressor with 2 clamps that can clamp onto the battey terminals. So, I pull the compressor out of the smugglers box, hook the clamps to the battery and turn on the compressor.

Good idea - but I was heading for the trick idea of a can or cartridge of air.
Chris - Can you show me a site or source that shows the cartridges? I used to use the small ones (about the size of your thumb) for Mt. Biking
