Pulled the trigger..she's mine!
Just picked this up after a two year search. Now I have a reason to post. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1120025302.jpg

Nice! I love Speedsters. More info on the car please.
|
SWEET!! Yes, more details and pics...

Thanks for the replies. It took a while but as there arn't many around...
I basically tripped over the car two weeks ago. Completely original, all service records from new. Everything is immaculate except for one small (almost not noticable) ding on the bonnet where the original owner closed the thing on a parcel that was too big. Really not an issue. 40,000 miles. In fact the local Porsche dealer that pre-inspected the car for me stated they had never seen a better one and would be surprised if it had ever seen rain. It has an LSD and no air. It's damn hot here too. But who's complaining! I really have been looking for this car since I was a teenager but only in the last two years could I afford one. I passed over two prior to this one a year ago because they just wern't as nice as I wanted. This car definately fit the bill in every way. As close to a perfect car as I could hope for. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1120026888.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploads5/p1120026973.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1120027130.jpg |
Dahaayamn! You jumped in in a big way.
Congratulations and welcome aboard! |
I'm not very much into that color but damn, does she look like she rolled out of the factory yesterday.
Welcome |
You're a lucky ba*&%rd :D
I love the speedsters.... I saw a converted one at my Porsche dealer a month ago... the owner said it wasn't for sale "it's mine" he said.... didn't have a camera, so didn't get any pics. Absolutely gorgeous car. |
nice car mate - yr gona love it.
Were all speedsters 'turbo look'? - oh yeah, is that a WR1 in the other garage or just a WRI coloured scoob? enjoy the cars mate... |
All of the 1989 Speedsters sent to the US were wide body. Sweet car byt the way. I love the color. I get tired of the standard color ones.
|
Nice car!
great reason to start you posting ;) |

WR1 was a higher spec Impreza than the STI in the UK - limited edition and a bit of a flyer, it was the dogs danglers when I had my scoob
|
ugly car, ugly color, terrible condition.
Ok fine, it's beautiful. It's good to see they made them in a color besides GRed. What is the story behind you "tripping over it?" Was there a plumbing truck or an old lady involved? We like stories and pretty cars, so please tell the story with more pics. Congratulations. |

Didn't like speedsters til I saw yours. Great colour combo. Looks pristine. Welcome to the board.

The car in the garage is a Canadian spec WRX STi. Great car. Very fast and I love it...for about the fifteen minutes I can stand the outrageously stiff suspension and grenade like power delivery. But hey, I bought it two years ago when I couldn't find the Porsche I was looking for. Now the STi goes bye-bye I'm afraid. It was fun while it lasted though.
As far as tripping over the Speedster... I'd come to the conclusion about a year ago that I wasn't going to find the car I wanted going crazy and looking at every classified ad as the two I had seen prior were quite poor and frankly, I didn't want a GRed car as well and both were Red. So I stopped actively looking. I figured maybe fate would or would not step in. Two weeks ago, a morning like most others, i drop my boy off at school and carry on down to the coffee shop as I do every morning. Pay for a large black, grab a newspaper but for some reason I decide that maybe I'll just grab a copy of our local Autotrader. I have no idea why as I hadn't looked through one for months. I get home and throw the Trader on the table beside my computer and start to do the email. As I'm talking to someone on the phone I start to flip through the book at random, not really paying attention. The guy on the phone says something so incredibly stupid that I stop flipping and start yelling at him. After I get off the phone I look down at the page and there it is. 89 Speedster, two owner, great condition etc. etc.... I dump work for the day and call the dealer and arrange to see the car that afternoon. After a week and a half of checking everything out with a fine tooth comb, the car now resides in my garage. It really is as nice an example as I've described. If fact, I just went throught the factory tool kit last night and it's in better shape then I could have hoped for. I mean evereything was there and completely unused. Not a mark on anything. This car was very pampered and it really shows. On a side note, I paid pretty close to top dollar. Partially due to the rarity and also the extremely good condition of the car. I like the colour as well. It's got a very clean look to it and the paint is in fantastic condition. Thanks for all the comments guys. I'm sure I'll have lots of questions as I get more familiar with the car. |
I'll take some more pics and post them by the weekend Jgordon. Glad you like the car guys.

congratulations on you car!!! beautiful..
