exhaust leak, fabspeed premuffler and exhaust
Hey all
I just finished the grueling install of my Fabspeed cat bypass and muffler, both sourced used from two different pelican members. Anyhow, I have a slight leak between the premuffler and the muffler. I am using brandy-new Fabspeed copper gaskets. I have no leak at the premuffler, and I have adjusted, at least 6 times, the entire muffler. I loosed the rotatable fittings, and the bolts on the exhaust manifold, and made for the closest to perfect attachment at the premuff/muff junction. Heck, I even tried using my old gasket along with the fabspeed copper one. The spot is underneath, directly facing the ground. It's a very light leak, you can feel it (when cold). I think it may seal itself when the gaskets and muffler heat up, but I wanted to see if anyone here had any input. I read the posts about imperfect cat bypasses already, this one seems to line up nicely, except for this spot. It almost looks like shrinkage on the gflange, perhaps .05mm? Anyhow, anyone used permatex ultra copper here? I know ultra copper can take up to 625 degrees F, not sure how hot this area gets. Anyone know? Thanks for your input. It sure sounds good ![]()
