Just finished painting the Fuchs
Was going to use these as the track set, but i think i like the look more than the black centers...I'd let the pics do the talking.
![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Things i learnt: Make sure the wheel is bone dry. Many thin coats. Make sure to get the edge of the lip. Steel wool after painting to get rid of the mist overspray. Clean the spray nozzle or it will start to spattle. Get 3 cans of paint, 2 was just enough. Would have been nice to have a spare for touch ups later. I got this set fully polished, so i used the self etching primer just in case. Not sure if it is needed otherwise. alf

Kmatts,
For a simple respray, some use steel wool. I use wet/dry sandpaper 400-600 grit if going paint over paint. Make sure to clean them before spraying of course ![]() -Chris

I like the look, Alf. I've contacted Al Reed about refinishing mine in his Dual Anodized finish, which is similar to your finish, with a bit more shine on the rim, but not much.
Check out the Fuchs Wheel Finish Library thread for the exact appearance. |

They are going on the roach (see sig below) Kmatts I just washed it and used self etching primer. Jorian Not sure about the nuts yet, i have a steel set and the stock black ones, will see which one suites me. Pat I was thinking of the Dual Anodize as well, I really like that look, but given that this was going to be a track set, i went cheap and painted instead. Turned out much nicer than i expected. alf

That is an interesting look, although usually I prefer the black centers. I'd be interested to see a pic of them on the car. Black lugs might look nice.
Nice job, ianc
