Angry white smoke / clutch problem? help me?

Hello,

Today I took my car of the jack stands after rear wheel bearings replacement. When I started backing from the garage something clicked. After that, white smoke starded coming of the ventilation channels under the windshield. It has rather burned plastic or rubber smell. It comes also between the wheel and left flare, and from the drivers side of engine compartment. Also my clutch pedal seems to work unussal now. When I disengage clutch pedal slowly in one moment the engine just die rapidly, it isn't normal. I think it has something to do with the clutch. Maybe it now don't disengage fully... that's the reason of the smoke... etc.

Any suggestion, what might have happen here??? What should I check/ look for and what did brake ??

Thanks for any help!
/Jack

Sound like an electrical short in the dash or front lid area.

Jack it up and give it a visual inspection. Maybe the clutch cable is binding on something ? Where did you jack it from ?
But DON'T get under the car unless it is secure on jack stands.

If this is an electrical problem something will probably already be fried with the amount of smoke you mentioned. Have a fire extinguisher handy just in case it is electrical.

If the clutch were to slip under these conditions I would think you were not getting a full release by the cable or ?

The clutch will smell like hot brakes, or if it's wet from oil (rear seal leaking) it will smell kinda like hot tar.

I found the reason - the clutch horseshoe spring broke in a half.
