996 Stereo (CD Player) aftermarket wiring adapter?

Hi,

I have two questions first being where can I get a wiring harness adapter for an aftermarket cd player that would connect to my factory harness in my 1999 996?

My second question is that my factory cd player will not turn on and I bnelieve it is because I have to punch in a code??? Do I have to go to the dealer for this? Does not really matter as I am installing an aftermarket cd player.

Thanks,
saki

What wrong with the factory system? I'm trying to put back an original system in lieu of the aftermarket system that the PO had installed in our BMW. Instead of using an adapter they cut the connector and spliced into the wires. There is no front to rear fade and even though there is some high end equipment in the system such as an Alpine amp for the sub woofer and a Kenwood amp for the rest of the system along with an Alpine head unit, the system sound like junk. You can't crank it up because the system seems to be over powering the speakers so the amps just shuts down momentary. I sat in my firend 5 series BMW with the factory setup and it sounded a hell lot better than the system in our car right now.

Check with Crutchfield if you do decide to go the route of new equipment. Some car makers are using fiber optic in their system so you maybe in for a lot of rewiring.

All I want to do is change my cd player. Doesn't seem to complicated just need an adapter if someone makes one.

I don't think anyone makes a harness for newer Porsches.
