Don,

To answer your question, according to build formula this engine is about 450 HP. Close to the limit for a CIS car although there are some out there that are getting more from their CIS cars, Im fine with this until I do EFI this next spring. My HP goal and weight goal is 700 and 2000 Lbs. The weight part will be the hardest to achieve.

Kurt B 07-05-2005 09:24 AM

Unreal. Totally. Glad it's not a track only car...it would be such a waste for folks to only see it on a trailer being hauled to a track.

what wheels and offsets are you using, Kevin

by the way thats an awesome car

Chris,
That is some car. When I grow up I want to be like you!http://www.pelicanparts.com/support/smileys/pray.gif

Looking back through the posts I see mostly the body changes. What did you end up doing in the engine other than the full width IC?

Gumba11 07-05-2005 03:30 PM

Engine has had all the goodies done. Gordon Ledbetter was the builder who now resides at Rothsport Road and Race as their engine builder. Everything internal has been done with the exception of twin plug heads. Not needed on turbo cars according to most people. Next step is EFI and methanol injection. The engine is now 3.2 Litre displacement with K27/7200 turbo, GHL Motorsports heat delete headers, GHL dual 3" out "Race" muffler (i.e. LOUD), HKS SSBOV, Magnecore KV85 wires, 964 camshafts, Mild port and polish, balanced and CC'd. Etc etc etc.........

EFI will be Electromotive Tec3 with M&W coils and will be set up for sequential injection. I plan on having Stephen Kasper from Imagine auto fly out to do the dyno tuning for me in the spring.

OK, now I'll give you the pics I took earlier today.

Thanks again for all the positive comments guys!

WOW, very nice. Well done.

bigchillcar 07-05-2005 03:53 PM

holy toledo, chris! you have some sort of window snorkle to get air into the engine compartment..there is 'serious'..and then there's you..lol! how much does that roll bage weigh, btw? still hard to believe you've gotten that car down to 2200 lbs! how much (if any) of the body is glass? not much else that i can see you can lose weight wise..maybe them sweet door sills, carpet, the passenger seat, go to manual crank windows..oh yeah, and them rain gutters..;)
ryan

Gumba11 07-05-2005 04:16 PM

There is no pass seat, there are no door guts what so ever not even windows, the only glass window left is the windshield the balance is lexan, The tail and banana wing are carbon fiber, the rockers are glass, front end is glass, no spare tire or tools, no trunk liner, no sound dampening etc.

Translation = lightweight!

So now I have a little problem I didnt see coming. I have had two offers on the car in the last week. I dont know what I should be willing to accept for my car with the "anything is for sale" attitude. I just talked to a guy the other night that said he is looking for a car and he has never seen one like mine, and would love to have it. He also wants me to make him a list of all the mods done and meet with him next week to discuss the possible sale.

My question is this. Is pricing on cars like this based on what the buyer feels fair? Blue book really doesnt apply here.

Anyone have any thoughts. Sameer? Hows the market over there? Should I see what I can get in europe and asia before I commit to anything here? I really dont want to sell it but for the money we are talking about I might be wise to get out of this car and start a new one.

Well the fact that you're considering it means that you are not married to this car. That said, why did you do the restoration? It wasn't to sell it right? No, it was a long 12 month project that you planned to use.......isn't there something really nice about owning something that people desire...remember someone by their own admission said "I've never seen anything like your car."
Essentially you just painted a beautiful picture and are overwhelmed by how much people are admiring it. Don't get carried away and sell your painting....unless, of course the offer is TOO good to pass up. In that case, completely forget bluebook or the like...just tell him make me an offer I can't refuse and see what he comes up with. If you even have to think about it then it's too low an offer...maybe offer someone who likes your work to do a commisioned car for them. Hell that's what I'd do...

Carl83911 08-04-2005 03:20 PM

If you don't mind me asking, what is your total bill for your resto.

PRE-H20 08-04-2005 03:25 PM

that car is awesome.... if it isnt for sale, it isnt for sale. if he insists, come up with a sale price that you would be thrilled with,.............THEN DOUBLE IT........ he will get the hint that it isnt for sale.

if he pays........ :)

Gumba11 08-04-2005 03:30 PM

Carl, I am actually in the process of putting numbers to it. I have done most of the work my self with the help of my father, so that saved a ton. But the potential buyer doesnt need to know that. (LOL) Im kidding!!!

I will PM you soon with a figure.

Chris,
I'm interested in your bill, too. I'll show you mine, just did a budget on it from the last 9 months. I did not paint, but did mostly everything else. Mine is not as extreme as yours, though it is moreso than most. Here's a link to the latest update and photos.

If you are inclined, please email me through the board and I'll email back.

Doug, Your car is truely breathtaking!! I LOVE IT! Very nice job. I'll PM you soon with some details.

I'm very impressed. Looks great!

A sale price would be completely subjective. You'll never recover your investment, but there has to be a number that would make you comfortably walk away... and smile.

Have them make you an offer. Don't give them a price.

Gumba11 08-04-2005 04:49 PM

Thanks you guys. Its nice to know I was thinking correctly. I want to walk away from this sure footed should this end up selling. Dont get me wrong. I dont want to sell it. He approached me.:) If he or anyone else wants the car they are going to have to work for it. $$$ After all, my blood sweat and tears are worth something right?

Thanks again....................................C:)
