Question Timing Chain Covers and Electrical question

Hi All:

I searched around the site for this information without any success and it is not mentioned in the Haynes book so here goes:

Is there a torque specification for the timing chain covers?

Secondly, does anyone have a schematic for a 1970 911E? I am trying to correct a broken front connector at the rear electrical panel. (twelve pin below and left of the CD unit). My plan is to add a small three pin connector and bypass the questionable area.

The colors of the wires in and out do not match at one point and I cannot locate this conflict on the busy Haynes diagram.

My bottom three male contact pins from the left are hanging loose (damaged Bakelite) These wires are Yellow (matching on both sides), Green/Black (Again matching).
The Grey/brown (male at panel) appears to mate with a Green/ Yellow wire (female on plug in connector).

I cannot locate this connection on my schematic.

Thanks for any advice offered.

P.S. I am a newbie to the 911.

Best Wishes,

Ron Young

Hi Ron,

Not sure about the torque specs, but I put up some wiring diagrams that may help. They are too big to post here, so you can find them at the following address. http://www.deeplogic.net/911/wiring.html

Hope they are better than the ones you have.

Steve, Thanks. I will print them out and hopefully they will answer the wiring question.
It bugs me that they colors change at the connector. Since it was already broken, maybe the PO accidentally swapped something.
I will let you know the outcome.
Best Wishes,

Ron-

I'm hoping that 70 and 71 were the same... Hope it helps.

Dunno re a torque spec. If you don't find one in the factory repair manual, then use a spec. for that size bolt from McMaster-Carr or someplace as a gap filler.

I posted a table for these "generic specs." at one time if you want to search it up.

I recall something like 71 in-lbs from Wayne's torque spec page...71 in-lbs is 5.92 ft-lbs. Seems about right since the studs/nuts are tiny!
