Warning Light 1974 Targa

Hello everyone and hope we are all enjoying this Summer. My 1974 Targa has a warning light in the left main dial , where temp and oil pressure are, with a "G" in the center of the circle. What does it mean when this is lit?

Alternator warning light chek the V-belt may be loose or broken and should be retensioned or replaced, the fault may be in the regulator or alternator itself.
