New seat question.....

After driving the car to work this morning, I think the seat is a little bit high. As you can see from the pics the seat is mounted to the factory seat rails. Can you cut these rails out and mount directly to the floor? Has anyone used this mounting method before with a side mounted seat. Can anyone post some pics of examples? Here is my current set up. The problem I have with the factory rails is that the seat is too wide to fit between them to adjust the seat down to the floor level. What should I do????
