Any suggestions

I am baffled, yes big time. Need a guru of transplants to help.

I have a 75 911s with an 87 Carrera motor.

Problem:

My oil level gauge pins to the top when ever i either:

A. Have the headlights on.
B. With the key OFF, use the right curb lights/right turn signal

I know it is a ground but hwere would you think it to be? Or, is it a bad gauge

sounds like your right tail light wire is crossed with tank oil level sender.

One thing that needs to be done when you install a 3.2 into your car is to move the location of the 14-pin connector in the engine compartment. The cable that feeds the rear tail lights, backup lights, etc, is an integral part of the cable that contains the 14-pin connector, so this portion of the cable (going to the rear lights) needs to be cut and spliced. I would suspect that you've got a problem in this area. Might be a good place to start looking.

Good luck,

Mike

Hum ok will look into the tank level wire and the tail light.

Coudl you elaborate on this 14-pin connector, as i am new to the porsche, is there a posting somewhere to see how to do this?

The 14 pin connector provides the connection between the engine and the car and carries things like wiring to oil temp and pressure sending unit signals, starter wire, etc. It is located on the driver's side of the engine compartment, near the rear of the car. Can't miss it.

Anyway, like I mentioned, the wiring harness that contains this 14 pin connector also contains the wiring that continues on back to the left tail lights, etc.

Maybe a place to start looking...

OK, I just re-read this and you're talking oil *level*...sorry about that. I was thinking oil *pressure* for some reason.

My bad.

Here is a web site that shows where pins need to be moved in the 14 pin connector. I don't know if that helps but figured it might. Good luck.
