crankcase breather oil leak

I think I've narrowed down a top-side oil leak on my '79 SC to the crankcase breather gasket... I did a partial engin drop to get back there and there is a large amount of oil on the left side.

My question is: can this gasket be replace with the engine in the car and the CIS inplace?? If so, roughly how much of the CIS system needs to be removed?

Any other input is welcome - thanks.

There is a good article on this in the Tech Info Center of pelican. I tried it but a ran out of patience and just pulled the engine, but my breather and thermostat gaskets were leaking and the breather hose to oil tank was rotted. Maybe the SC is different.
