Does anybody make steel repro '69-73 front fenders?
From what I can tell the answer is no.
![]() At $900-1200 for new ones and used ones so rare, I'm very surprised someone hasn't started stamping these out in China somewhere for a reasonable cost. If anyone has a passenger side front fender for a '69-73 911 in OK (i.e. no rust-through) shape for $300 or less, please email me. I'd prefer a local pickup in Southern California, but I'm open to other options at this point. |

Back around '89 I bought a pair of repro front fenders for my '73 911. They looked OK at first glance, then when you checked them out you found that the edge of the fender next to the hood had even gaps at the ends of the fender but added 1/4 inch to the gap at the center. Nobody I showed them to had a good idea on how to fix that problem - and it showed up on both the left and the right. I was told that they had been "soft tooled" and mine were better than those from the end of the tool's life.
Paid $600+ for the pair, ended up selling them off for $200. Bought OEM fenders and had no issues, other than the cost.......... Any used ones will have all the same rust problems behind the flange that ataches to the fender joining panel. Try calling Porsche dealers advertising in Excellence and see what you can find - I'm sure the prices are all over the map - my local dealer would probably want 150% of suggested list plus freight, others sell at 20% over cost plus freight. If you are willing to pick up at the dealer that will help onn reducing the shipping cost. Jim |

Only the front few inches are different on SHs and LHs. If the front of your fender is good just graft (or have some else) a good SH back to the LH front. Is more cost effective on repaints but if you can do the body work…

I wouldn't want fiberglass if I could help it...very fragile and crack-prone. Besides, why lighten up the FRONT of a 911?
![]() The front area right under the headlight has a big dent, so backdating a shorthood fender wouldn't work. Well...the turnsignal and horn grille housings are OK...is that all you need? Besides, didn't the flares on the longhood fenders change sometime (perhaps the '78 SC I think)? |

The quality of repro fenders has improved a lot in the past 15 years. My friend got a quality repro front fender for his MGB for about $300. I can't believe that demand for those old things is any greater than those for an early 911. |
