O2 sensor polarity?
I just picked up a 3 wire Bosh o2 sensor to replace my dead one on my 84 carrera. It has two white wires and one black. The old one had color coded wires, I think black , brown and white.
Are the O2 sensors polorised? If so is there a way to tell? Thanks Terry |
Two white wires are most likely the heater and the black is the O2 signal. Ground comes from the metal case.

Great
Thanks, I was thinking that was the setup but it always helps to have extra input.. |
We like pictures and charts too.
Bosch illustrated installation manual for O2 sensors: http://www.boschautoparts.com/NR/rdonlyres/D90D5AD3-7E41-439E-B271-20A76139E0F7/0/OxygenSensorInstall.pdf http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1121198069.jpg EDIT: Updated with new, working link. |
the single wire is for the sensor. the two matching wires are for the heater element. the matching wires are not polarized. just hook 'em up and you'll be good to go.

I went back and looked at my duff sensor and indeed it has two white wires and one black, just like the origional.. a no brainer, just have to cut and solder the plug.
I have also been trouble shooting my airconditioner so I've got wire colors floating around my head. Thanks |
