What HP do you think the 3.0 will make?

It's certainly a cheaper solution than a high-strung "S" 2.2 or 2.4 rebuild. The 2.4 "S" made 190, a CIS 3.0 was nominally 180, but with SSI's and carbs (so you can run more cam) I bet significantly more.

And it's even an aluminum case, too. Just keep the judges away from the underside of the car!

I believe John was referring to concours judges when he said, albeit tongue-in-cheek, "Just keep the judges away from the underside of the car!"

For whats it's worth, I looked at a 68 911 I considered buying (didn't), that had a carb'd 2.7 built from the aluminum 2.0 case. It wasn't running good because it didn't really scoot like it should have, but the 901 was a fun shifting box, if 1st and 2nd gear didn't hit my leg.

svonkampen,

She runs great! I know owners of a '04 996 and a '02 M5, and they were pretty impressed with the performance. Lots of torque on the low end, too.... about 200 hp (it's a 2200 lb car). It's a '69E targa with a rebuilt stock '82 SC engine with 40mm PMOs. It is challenged in the MPG arena, but it puts a smile on my face everytime I go for a drive. It has the cool 911 (901) tranny. No problems at all.

awesome ....i can't wait!

did you upgrade to an sc suspension/brakes? (I am)

ps: on my 68 2.0 ...i was doing 0 to 60 in about 12.5sec (embarrasing) so ....how quick would you guestimate your speed? 5.5sec range?
