my headlights started flickering

1983 911SC with US spec H4 headlights with Narva 80/100 watt bulbs and Sucro relay kit. The bulbs and relay kit have been installed for about 5 months now and working great. All of a sudden I am getting some flickering with the headlights and when I turn the lights on I notice the high beam blue light is on, is my turn signal/headlight switch going bad? The blue high beam light goes out when I cycle the switch from low to high but it seems to always start out on high when I activate the lights. The Sucro relay kit is soldered in. Battery is a 8 month old Optima with a brand new ground to chassis cable. Any help is appreciated. Thanks................Rick

I'd check the easy stuff first...make sure the bulb has a good fit in the socket, all wires are securely connected at terminals, good solid ground connection, as well as the main fuses themselves (sandpaper, rotate each fuse, or just replace them as cheap as they are). THEN, if that didn'f fix the problem, I would start looking at the turn signal/dimmer switch assembly.

do a voltage check first. charging voltage. 2 tenths either side of 14V is normal. just attach a voltmeter to the battery or to any other 12V source and ground and raise the rpm up to 2500 and watch it for a minute or so. you don't want to see 17V.
