Parking brake wiring problem

I've been chasing a problem on my '73, originally a CIS car. The parking brake indicator light, at the top of the oil multi gauge, was always blinking regardless of the position of the brake.

Fast forward, there is nothing wrong with the parking brake switch or its adjustment. It works just fine.

It turns out there is another wire that can turn on that same light, a wired OR. When I remove this wire, the parking brake indicator works correctly.

Here is the wiring diagram:

And the legend:

The parking brake switch is number 38, the second switch is number 40 and is listed in the legend as "Brake warning light switch, US only". It is this second wire that is keeping the indicator light flashing. Sure enough it is a brown/white wire just as shown in the diagram.

What is this second switch (40) and where is it located?

Chuck, if I remember correctly, on my 74, there was a switch by the master cyl... Could it be showing that at some point, one of the 2 brake circuits lost pressure? Sometimes they might need to be reset... Good luck. Lou
