Power Seat, up, up and out?

Have '81 SC, power seats. Passenger side goes forward and back no problem, udjusts up with no problem, will not go back down. Playing with it for a little while and noticed while sitting on the seat when pushing the button to go down I feel a light knocking/tapping on my left side leg, almost under the buttox. No noises just a tapping like someting is missing, trying to catch. What am I looking at to fix, have noticed a few threads on how to fix switches and clean up contacts but nothing describing this issue. Anyone with suggestion or a thread I could read up on? Cheers.

Thanks for the response Bell. I have read the threads on fixing the switches, but it is not the switch that is the problem. I can feel the motor trying to catch the seat or something along those lines and it just keeps slipping. That is the feeling I get when I press the switch for the seat to lower. The motor is running but the seat does not move. Just a tap,tap feeling on my leg coming from the left side of the seat.
