Repair trans without removal?
I have a problem with my transmission.
It went BANG....big time!! Now it is stuck in gear 3rd I think, can't get it into neutral or another gear. I read someone's story of removing the guts of the trans by lowering the nose of the trans and taking the nose cone and mid plate out (with gears) while still in the car. Does this work with my 69? I realise that I must support the flywheel end of the engine and bulk of the trans, but if it's possible, it would save me a lot of time and work. Any first hand experience? Bob

Sounds like more trouble than help to me.
The first issue would be getting the gear selector rod to clear the center tunnel. I guess you could drop the motor end down and back out the selector rod like a normal drop and then raise the motor back up. You would still probably have to unbolt the half shafts though to pull this off. Dropping the motor and tranny still seams easier to me than trying to dissasemble the tranny under the car anyway. Don't you wish they would have designed a removable plate on the pan at the back of the center tunnel. I've got a clutch issue that needs attention and it would be so much easier if I could just drop the tranny end and remove it without having to drop the motor. Anyway good luck.

Had figured the short shaft would clear the tunnel...but maybe not.
Think I will try anyway, it would save me a lot of time. Thanks Bob
