Anyone Painting Viper Green??
Need a bit of kind assistance. Kermit is now going to be sans A/C. Even though wifey was concerned about the heat of the summer driving in my '73 E, the warm days to date (in the mid-90's) have convinced her that the A/C really isn't necessary.
Now I've got a lot of A/C parts to unload, but that isn't my issue today. During the restore, I left the blower mounted in the trunk. Now I want to pull it out, and return the car to pre-A/C. I have found a cover for the smuggler's box. I just need to find someone that is going to shoot their car Viper Green, and is willing to paint the smuggler's box door for me when they shoot their car. I am willing to pay for the consideration, of course. If you aren't painting -- do you know someone who is? I should have the cover in about a week - 10 days. TIA larry

if you get stuck, try www.paintscratch.com for a match and then rattle-can it.

Even better is to go to a local Automotive paint shop and have them make up a quart. The fellow that does it can even fix you up with some spray cans to give you application options for less than paintscratch.

Hmmm, that's a thought. The left over VG that I have is a catalyst based paint. It can't be mixed and put in a spray bottle. I wonder whether there are any downsides to using a different paint for the spray touch-up.
Of course, inside the trunk, and inside the engine compartment, I doubt that it would get notice. larry

I had my local paint guy make me a few cans of Dupont GP white two stage, and put them in rattle cans. Works great, one can to a project, $18.00 for paint and 15 for a big can of clear. The Ruf PU spoiler and HL rings look great, I would recommend a good catalyst compatible cartridge mask.
Truth is, you don't need a perfect mirror finish on that part (unless Kermy is a concours/show car) and I would think a perfect "mirror shine" would look out of place on the lowly smuggler's box cover.
