need help for fixing seat

hello,

Well, the leather of one of my 25 years old seat gave up, and I now have a 1 foot slit on my seat where they used to be one of these decorative stiches, just where I seat my small arse...

does anyone has any trick that I can use to fix it? something like a magic product that will glue the 2 peices of leather together (from underneath for example)?

thanks, Cyrille

I restiched mine only to have that tear through within a month. My only thought would be to pull the leather off, and use some type of iron-on patch from underneath and then put the leather back down onto the seat. Not sure if it will last but that's what I would do if it was me looking for a cheap fix. The leather gets so old that trying any sort of sewing is just going to weaken it further.

Leatherique has some repair kits for tears that I have used and had reasonable success. I have also used their conditioning oil to help soften leather and prevent further cracks and tears. You can also try colorplus, both sell quality products.

If you find a product that works, please tell the rest of us about your discovery, otherwise, I think you will eventually find yourself at the upholstery shop (either a new replacement panel...assuming the remaining leather is in good condition, or an entire new recover job). My experience with these "band-aid" leather fixes has not been good.
