Battery dead in 930

DOH!!! my @$%&&*% electric window switch was stuck all night in the UP position - consequently draining the Interstate battery... is it toast, or can I recharge it?? what are the procedures ?? I dont even know if I have two batteries or not, but this one is huge.... I think it is 850 CCA, and I'm presently trickling it on a DieHard charger at 2 AMPs.. what can I look forward to ?? After about 2 hours I tried to turn it over, and at least it made a sound.... a long stuttering click.... that's all.... any help appreciated

You should be good in the morning....I had that happen only with an interior light.

Do yourself a flavor and get rid of the huge bulky battery. You can go to an Optima (red) or Oddessy battery. They won't leak and are smaller and lighter than the stock-sized battery. (you can even relocate it to the smuggler's box ...if you don't have A/C...)

Trickle overnight, should be good in the morning, once running warm it up and take it out for a good 15 min. drive to fully recharge, the longer the drive the better. I have to agree with mmastro, change your battery to a smaller one in the future.

Just get the one that is close to your CCA specs and you are good to go. I think Kragen's has them for $109? Just don't buy the yellow one. You will probably need a mounting bracket/box for the Optima (it"s considerably smaller than stock).

I just bought my Oddessy from TRE, Dave had the mounting box and everything. It was a snap to install in the smugglers box, too.

Weigh your Interstate. It may not be that much heavier than the red top Optima that weighs in at around 36 lbs. Batteries with similar CCA specs will usually weigh the same. Let us know.

The gel cell batterys scare me with their apparent dormancy issues. Interstate has served me well for many years.

IMO, each time a lead acid battery completely discharges a portion of it's overall lifespan has been spent.
