Help w/ installing no fog light front valence on '87
I am trying to install a no-fog light front valence onto my '87. Much to my chagrin, as I tried putting it on I noticed the brackets on the side were not in the same place. See the pics below. The '87's are about 1.5" forward of the other (which I can only assume came off an earlier car. Has anyone else come across this? I thought they were interchangeable across 74-89. I would use a horizontal bracket to make up the difference but the oil cooler fan is in the way (see last two pics). I would prefer not to cut and weld (corrosion) but I don't see any other way.

I would cut the offending bracket off and then bolt on another "L" bracket where you need it. There appears to be enough lip on the valance for this. Simple "L" brackets are available at the hardware store. Might take a little drilling and trimming to make it work, but nothing major.

Should I bolt it in or use JB Weld? This isn't as much of a structural piece as it is for fitment, so I guess I could use a bolt...

I also wanted to highlight this for others because I didn't know about it.

People often assume that ervything is interchangeable in this era but Porsche constantly made little changes here and there. A replacement valence of this type from Porsche will have both brackets on the right hand side, so that it will fit a variety of years.
If it were mine, I'd weld the correct bracket onto the replacement valence and touch up the paint. JR |

+1 on Javadogs suggestion. That's what I did, but I was adding the Carrera valance to my SC. Different strokes for folks. My issue was the foglights hitting the washer tank, had to add the Carrera tank and also also a little horn massaging. My parts were black also , easy to touch up the paint.
