915 Trans Shifts great when its cooler outside
OK my 86 911 always had slow shift entry into second gear...however the temps dropped to 60 and 70s and it shifts like expected..I always thought maybe syncros but could it be possibly something else?...like that weird shape spring that goes to the clutch assembly underneath the tranny? Now I can accelerate to red-line and shift into 2 gear with no issues. Any idea?...its happen before but very seldom...its working fine now though.

Don't know the reason, but you're not alone. Sometimes my 915 shifts like it should be rebuilt soon then other times it shifts like its new. I've noticed that it shifts better when warmed up as well, despite the temperature outside. Maybe that plays an important role.
