Track car only

Lookin for broad torque range 3000 - 6500

Mod-S.

Same specs as early S, but the lobe centers are widened for a broader torque curve. It's an awesome grind, and fits the bill perfectly, judging by what you stated.

The engine responds nicely right off idle, and makes power from 3000 all the way to 7000.

We used them in a 3.0 with 9.5/1 JE's, 40mm intake ports, 40 IDA Webers, 1 3/4" headers, and a dual out early sport muffler. Dyno'd @ 205 at the rear wheels.

Yes - talk to some experts - tell them your goals re type of driving and some info about other things done to the engine.

A general poll just gives you votes for what most people have heard about, or would like to have in some unrealistic world where hp is free, and all the engines are above average...

I am building a similar engine and will use a Mod-S cam. Mine will differ by being a 9.8:1 3.2SS with twin plug (bore required). I am hoping for 260, which is about what you would expect from just the displacement increase when compared to the motor Tyson described.

You could go to a hotter cam but that would shift the torque curve to a higher rpm band. This would then need to port the heads to get intake velocities low enough at high rpm. You would also have to realistically mod the valve train to be reliable at 8K rpm where the motor wants to make power.

The mod-s (DC40) on 108 degree or wider lobe centers would work nicely. It will give up some power to the 964 or super cup cams below 4000 rpms, but you will have no problem making hp at 7000 rpms.

I wanted to hear from a few others with similar setups and maybe see some torque/power curves for the options I have been discussing with John.
